§ 14-1. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this chapter the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:

    Junk: Old iron chain, brass, copper, tin, lead or other base metals, old rope, bags, rags, wastepaper, paper clippings, clips, bagging, rubber, glass, empty bottles, bones or old parts of motor vehicles, or any other articles which have been discarded or are no longer used for the purpose for which they were manufactured.

    Junk dealer: Any person who, irregularly or continually, either at wholesale or retail, buys, sells or deals in junk, whether as an itinerant or at a fixed place of business.

    Junkyard: Any place used or maintained by any person as a dumping ground, or for the wrecking or disassembling of automobiles, trucks, tractors or machinery of any kind, or for the storing or leaving of worn-out, wrecked or abandoned automobiles, trucks, tractors or machinery of any kind, or of any of the parts thereof, or for the maintenance or operation of such place for the accumulation of junk or rubbish of any description.
